The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

[ Edited ]

Hi everyone,

If you're wondering where this board has come from, and why we have created it...

Since the launch of the new Avon Beauty Connects community, I have read some fantastic, wonderful and truly touching Representatives' stories, detailing why Representatives joined Avon in the first place and their journey from joining up until now.

We therefore wanted to create a special board just to home these wonderful Representative stories, as well as to create a place to encourage more Representatives to share their Avon story with us! From what we have seen so far, there are so many different reasons for why people became - and become - an Avon Representative, and it is truly inspiring to read each individual's tale.

Maybe you remember well who it was that first inspired you to become an Avon Representative? Or maybe you could just tell us how long you've been doing it for, and why you have kept it up? Has your Avon journey been as you expected? Or maybe better?

If you would like to share your Avon story with us, please go back to the main board and click on "Add New Message". We would like each Representative to post their Avon story in an individual post, because each Representative's story is special and unique to them (and therefore deserves its own post!) Remember to also include a relevant "Subject" (title for your story/post) when posting your Avon story Smiley Happy

Please also feel free to engage with individual Representatives on their individual post about their story (if you wish to!)

We hope that you will enjoy the stories as much as we do, and look forward to reading more as and when they are posted Smiley Very Happy

Thanks everyone!

Re: The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

Hey there,

My name is Heather and I am from Hamilton, I have a 10 year old son and work full time too.

I have been using Avon products for years. My campaign spend went up and up all the time and I was taking books into my work - getting orders from colleagues too and passing them to another rep.  Then just out the blue last month I thought, you know what I could do this, I could sell Avon and I have shed loads of hints & tips and even more product knowledge, so I did it!  I had a fantastic order for my first and my second campaign is going absolutely brilliant too! Must say I feel like Im killing it! I have books with me everywhere I go as you never know who your next order can be from!  Its the unlikeliest of people that can spring you an order so I never assume.

My only negaitive comment is though - I wish I done it years ago! I am super excited giving out books, even more so delivering the products.  When I deliver something I havent seen I hang with my customer to see how they like their new product, lol.  The I can pass on their first hand knowledge with future sales.

I LOVE AVON, woohoo!

Heather from Hamilton

Re: The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

Hello,

Shall we start my own story again......

So maybe I had bad start in Avon but now I am proud and happy to be here. I am more than 2 years ready in Avon .  Honestly time gone too fast for me.  Before I was upset that anyone explain to me how is looks all system here's. But Avon Representative need be INDEPENDET. Also not everyone is strong and clever enough to stay . I was lucky enough to survive and be Sales  Leader now. I know how hard job is on the begging.  So I am trying to help my own team to be the best. They can count on me any time and ask me if is any problem.  I had hard work before but it is not mean that my team is gonna be have the same experience .

Thank us for the time.

Re: The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

I've found it difficult to find a job with my husband working full time and my son in school, i needed a job i could work around, i wasn't sure i would be any good at it as i get nervous starting conversations with people i don't know more so away from my home, i'm on my 3rd campaign now and i'm getting more comfortable talking to people outside and at the school ect. When i wear Avon make-up some people compliment the shade or ask me where it's from and it's starts a conversation and i've began to feel more comfortable doing it, i really enjoy being an Avon rep and the more people i meet and the more sales i make the more confident it's making me and it pushes me more to get out there, this seems to be the perfect thing to get me socialising and something that i love to do and i'm making money at the same time, it's also the perfect job that fits around my sons schooling so i can work at my own pace without worrying to much

Big thank you too Avon Smiley Happy

Re: The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

I am on my gap year between A Level studies and University (although I've been accepted - yay!) and I found that Avon gives me a little extra as minimum wage for my age is a lot lower than a lot of people's. I also work in Cards Direct and for Take Note Music Shop.

After August 2014, I have found it hard to go out in public as I have been nervous, and often even afraid, but Avon gave me my confidence back - I feel safer in my neighbourhood because I know and trust my neighbours better than I once did. It also allowed me to rehabilitate and feel more comfortable in my two other retail jobs.

My customers are amazing though - more like friends Smiley Happy

Re: My Avon Story (10 Months)

Well can i say,

I never thought that day i was day dreaming, walking through town with my baby that i would be here today to tell my own story.

I was appraoched by the area manager and i had ummmed and arrred, i had done avon many years ago and ended up going into debt but i paid it off on the hope i would come back but they said no so when i was approached i explained that i doubt i would be aloud to join, but the area manager at the time was hopeful and said try anyway so with that i did as i was told i had options now.........well i signed up wondered off with my challenge pack and started asking people i know....... within a week i had already got £200 worth of sales.

what a confidence boost that was so their i am getting my decent sales enjoying my job when.....

The area manager suggested Sales Leadership well for 6 weeks i kept saying no i wasnt ready but then i really started to consider to point i had text her to say how do i change to Sales Leader well that was August and i am now a qualified advance co-ordinator, off benefits, a single parent with 2 children.

And i wouldnt have it any other way now.

I love being apart of Avon its the best move i have ever made in my life so THANK YOU AVON XX

Re: The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

I joined Avon with the intention of earning some extra money for treats. After seeing how well sales went on my first camaign i set a little goal of saving to buy myself a little run around car. My partner used the car we had for work and I felt trapped in the village with 2 young children and all of our friends living further away. So i saved my earnings and bought a car :-) Meanwhile i had been talking with my upliner and decided to take the plunge in sales leadership :-) I have set myself goals along the way and acheived so much that would never have been possible. I have upgraded my little run around and had family holidays from my earnings.

My mum was an Avon representative when i was a young girl, i have fond memories of the sample lipsticks and some products Avon used to do many years ago :-)

My daughter (nearly 8) says she wants to be an Avon lady just like mummy when she grows up :-)

I have been a sales leader for nearly 2 years and have been pottering along until my youngest started school full time. He is in school full time now and am out and about most days working my magic helping other people earn with Avon :-) I love my job as i love the products and love how its flexible with working around my family and commitments.

Re: The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

Hi everyone,

Well to describe me best I was the typical, get away weekend camping kind of girl. However the most make up I ever had was a mascara and eye liner. And "Maybe" a huge maybe one listick lol so make up and all it's stuff to me never crossed my mind only a good face wash and wipes and I was set to go Smiley Happy

My sister and mum however wer always infront of a mirror putting on their make up and I always thought they always looked very good, bugt never thought to be as fussy as I called it.

My mum is or was a Avon rep, moved futher up now however I remeber when she got her stock it was like christmas lol.  All the customer's goodies and packing them all up .... Yup a little bit like christmas indeed, now I was going through a bad time in my life so with a lot of laughter , guidance and positive thinking I have now joined the wonderful team of Avon, and indeed I do have a few more Avon goodies myself. The best part to what I do, is deffenitly my customers. I love the happiness they show when getting their parcels all packed, and even the chit chat I get into even if I am out of time and in a rush lol it's always a thing, even in our rainy days it's all worth it Smiley Happy

It's a wonderful and exciting job indded, so thanks to all who are their and to the new store opening, I wish you all the best too Thank you Smiley Happy

My Avon Story...

My avon story started years ago when i was only about 7yrs old. My mum done Avon and if i was really good, she would let me help her. Everytime her book came to the house, she would write all the details down on the order forms and then I would sit and put an order form into each book, We would then head outside and go to the top of the road and my mum would start on one side of the road and i would be directly across the road delivering on the other side. Once a few days had past, we would do the same again, but this time it would be to collect the books back from each house. When we were home, my mum would sit and write out all the orders and then send them off. Once the delivery came to the house with all the customers items, my mum would sit and watch me as i would sit with each order form and start sorting all the deliveries out into each household. One this was done, we would go back to the top of the street and start delivering and collecting the cash for the orders. Everytime i went to certain houses, they would give me the money for the order then hand me an extra pound or two for myself. But at Christmas was always the most exciting time for me, remembering i was very young, I would always get extra money for myself from many of the regular customers and many times the customer would have went out there way to buy me a Christmas present for being such a good sales woman... I though i was Great!!!... lol Those were the good old days, So i guess you could say i have been doing Avon All My Life... and Still Live it and the products. I spend atleast £200 each christmas and also buy for everyones birthdays. It is great, So thank you Avon. And I am now very proud to be able to say i now am part of the AVON TEAM... Thanks x

Re: The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

I started delivering avon on  3rd march 1998 and i was 7 months pregnet with my seconed child and i wanted some thing to do and to meet new poeple and i was out delivering my avon on 7th may when i went into labour but i carried on delivering it and as i got home i had to call for a anbalance to take me to the hospital and my mother in law had taken my oldest to hers and my mum  came with me as we had to call my hubby as he was a t work to meet us at the RUH in bath, as there was football on and eastenders was on late that night so i was sat there watching it and eating but as soon as that was all over it all started up again and skye was bourn at 12.31am on the 8th may 1998 . It took me 2 years to get into PC club and i have been there ever since but in 2007 we brought a new car with the commition and  then in 2011 i had my eyes lazzered  and then in 2013 we got a newer car and i have a big customer base as i have about 200 customers so it shows that you have to work at it and not give up like some of them because last year i was diagonose with breast cancer and i never missed a campiagn throught all of my treatment and still managed to get into silver PC club but i would not of done it with the help of my family and the area manager as she was very good to me as she was not pushing me into things and letting me get on with things.

Re: The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

I decided to try Avon after leaving my job due to being terribly unhappy. Whilst looking for full time employment I wanted to earn a little money to keep me going. I text Avon after seeing the advert on daytime tv. I thought nothing of it until a lady knocked on my door and asked if I wanted to be rep. She came in my house and signed me up. I was sat in my worst tackles and a hoodie, I must've looked a right state, probably like I Should have been on Jeremy Kyle rather than watching it. Anyway she spent time showing me what to do and left me to get cracking with all my brochures. I wrote up my order forms and off I went. I had two large streets near my house and it felt good to get out. Although I was nervous every at first, especially asking for the brochures back. Lots of brochures I never got back but a anted to get a few orders and met HOV. I was so chuffed. I didn't think I would do Avon for long but here I am 2 and a half years later. It has been hard work to build up my lovely customers. I recently moved house and I'm trying to pick up some new customers in my new territory. It's lik starting all over again. I still have some of my old customers and a get quite a bit from friends and family, being an Avon rep is hard work, it I do enjoy it. I do like to treat myself too. That's my story. Xx

Re: The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

MY STORY WITH AVON

I was working at a part time job before AVON and they started to want me to work more hours, which I couldn’t handle as I had a child out of school at the time that I needed to look after. So I decided to look into finding a job that would fit around my life and that job turned out to be Avon.

After a couple of weeks of starting at AVON I became very ill with a virus infection so my husband Stephen stepped in to help me, which he really enjoyed doing and not long after he joined AVON too. At the same time we were getting really short of money so I started looking in to sales leadership to boost my income, Zoe Davies my up liner came to my house and explained to me all about sales leadership and how to succeed in it.

Within a week of asking I became a sales leader and started to build my own team of representatives and expanding my business, I recruited my reps by going out asking in public, door knocking in local areas and posting on social media that is the reason I love AVON as it is so flexible and the more hours you put in the bigger the increase in your income.

I love Avon products anyway so selling them was a great way of making money for my family, the variety is huge we no longer just sell Make-up we sell Clothes, Toys, Jewellery, After shaves, Perfumes and so much more.

I now have a big round to do which involves, dropping books, picking up books and delivering orders which is always good to do as we have wonderful customers, most of them are still the same as when we first started and a lot of them I call Friends.

I love delivery days where we sort all the customers orders out and make them up ready for delivering them, also having the chance to look at all the new products that AVON regularly brings out in each campaign, reps also get to see the 1st look book which we can have a look at all the new products that are coming out before the books are released.

Over the past 8 years with AVON I have built a great team of reps 1 of which is my son and also sales leaders 1 of which is my Husband which is good to have as we spend more time together as a family, also many of my sales leaders have there very own teams now too.

I just love the fact that AVON works around me and my family, if you need to increase your earning even more you can just take more books out to your local area and get more customers or you can now have your own online shop which your customers can order from you online which is easier if you have further to reach places.

I do not think I could ever work in any company other than AVON now, when we first started we owed a lot of money to banks and catalogues, we also nearly lost are house at one point, but due to my ill health and needing to look after my son I was unable to work in a full time job.

But thanks to AVON I was able to look after my son, look after my own health while working at the same time, now we have nearly cleared all the debts also paid are mortgage on the house, now I am looking forward to having holidays abroad with my family this year, I could of never done this without AVON.www.beautywithinmakeup.com

Re: The "Tell Your Avon Story" Board...

Hi All. I've been with the Avon family for almost 32years.  At one point I had a huge round and was at the awards every year.  My son had a whole new family as every week I'd take him in his pram around the houses delivering.  Life though got in the way and I couldnt afford the time so I cut my customers to just family and work and a couple of neighbours.  Now though we have our online store its given me a new lease of life and I'm getting new customers every campaign  Smiley Happy

Finding Avon has been my lifesaver!

I have always been interested and inspired by bye gone fashions and love 60/70's clothing, as a child I'd raid my glamorous Grandmother's wardrobes for anything interesting and I have fond memories of the clothes they used to wear. As a former model I have always been interested in fashion so I decided to open a shop selling beautiful vintage clothing like the ones I used to find in my Grannies bedrooms. My beautiful boutique won awards and had a host of celebrity clients and everything was going really well until I began to struggle with my sleep and started to become depressed and highly anxious. I found it difficult to focus and concentrate on anything and became incredibly impulsive, my emotions completely overwhelmed me. I visited my doctor where I was diagnosed with the early menopause and latent ADHD and as a result could not cope with the day to day pressures of running my own business let along being a single mum of two teenagers. I began to lose money and so had no alternative but to sell up and close, which was devastating.

For the past two years I have been coming to terms with this diagnosis and finding a job which fits around my children and my illness. I have isolated myself away and lost touch with friendships slowly becoming depressed and hopeless.

I recently came across Avon again purely by accident. It was a lightbulb moment. I immediately knew this was something that I wanted to do. As a child of the 70's I remember my mother ordering Avon, then as a teenager in the 80's I too became a customer and would look forward to my lady turning up with my little bag of goodies. It was my treat of the month, and it made me feel fabulous!

The great thing about Avon, apart from working for this fantastic company, is that it's made me feel like I have a purpose again. I love being out and about talking to people about the products, Im keeping in touch with friendships and rekindling old ones, Im getting to know the people who live in my neighbourhood who I would never have met otherwise. It's made me closer to my teenage daughter who now thinks i'm semi-cool again! More importantly It's given me a new lease of life.

I can't wait for the next campaign and am wearing make-up again, taking a pride in my appearance like I did in my younger years.

Thank you Avon....you are my lifesaver!
